Obituary of Wilma Jayne Amos
Wilma (Heaton) Wood Amos, age 94, of Carmel, passed away May 4, 2019. She was born February 2, 1925 in Broad Ripple, IN to the late Paul E. and Edyth (Rodocker) Heaton. Wilma was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School. She was employed by the Marion County Recorder’s Office for several years. Wilma was a member of Keystone Christian Church, volunteer at Colburn House, and a member of the Mall Walkers. She loved crafts, and owned Hen’s Coop, a craft shop in Broad Ripple, for 5 years. She also enjoyed traveling with her children, especially to Ireland. Survivors include her daughters, Cassie (James) Wood Childress, Bobbie (Charles) Wood Packard, Jenny Amos Husk, and Sally (Jeff) Amos Lohss; grandchildren, Scott Childress, Mike Childress, Kelly Childress, Kari Fritz, John Husk, Rachel Layton, Haley Carter, Chris Lohss, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph M. Wood, and second husband, John R. Amos. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5-7 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN. Private burial will take place in Union Chapel Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, 435 Limestone St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
