Thomas Fryer Draper

Thomas Fryer Draper (Tommy), 80, of Martinsville, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019. Tommy was born in Martinsville, October 9, 1938 to Edgar Harrison Draper and Fannie Hensley Draper. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School and Danville Technical School and also served in the Army. Tommy was a charter member of Chatmoss Baptist church. Later, he was a long-time member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church. Tommy was a member of Gideons International and was dedicated to sharing God's word. Tommy was an avid golfer, hunter and a respected dog trainer. His happiest days were spent with his family, his friends and his dogs. Tommy and his friend Archie Vipperman started two businesses, Commonwealth Film Processing and Commonwealth Laminating. Both businesses have provided employment for hundreds of people. Tommy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence Guerrant Draper; two daughters, Marion D. Sparks (David) and Susan D. Thompson (Matt); grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob and Olivia Katz; brother, John S. Draper (Martha); sister-in-law, Patsy Draper and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Walston and brother, Gerard Draper. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Chatham Heights Baptist Church.
