Michael Hanks

Michael Hanks, 72, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at his residence in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Lewsiport, KY to the late Clarence Raymond and Anna Elizabeth (Roberts) Hanks. He married Donna Shepler on May 13, 2000 and she survives. Michael worked for Deister Machine Company as a drill press operator for 32 years. He was a member of Waynedale Baptist Church. Michael loved camping, the outdoors, and was an avid Bears Fan. Above all else, Michael loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his son, Terrance “Terry” Hanks; step-children, Janice Shepler and Mark (Jennifer) Shepler, and Kristina (Robert) Musser; eight grandchildren, Tyler Shepler, Zachery Shepler, Blake Shepler, Thomas “T.J.” Musser, Ahna Miller, Daniel Musser, and Jonelle Shepler; one great-grandchild on the way; and siblings, Wilbur (Sharon) Hanks. Michael was also preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond Hanks, Ruby Louise Payne, Dorothy Husk, Mary Riley, Jasper Hanks, Marjo Hanks, and Erma Hanks; and grandson, Jonathan Shepler. Funeral service 11:00 am Monday, July 29, 2019 at Waynedale Baptist Church with calling one hour prior to the service. Calling from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
