Obituary of Earnest Levern Veney
Earnest Levern Veney, son of the late Booker T. Ball and Fannie L. Veney, was born on October 5, 1937 in Warsaw, Virginia. Earnest spent most of his young life in Warsaw, Virginia until settling with his family in Northern Virginia (Arlington County). A father of four, he enjoyed working and took pride in his lengthy career with Newton Asphalt in Alexandria, VA until retirement. Earnest loved his truck (a 1999 Chevy Silverado) and was often seen cruising, even with no special place to go. Earnest loved being around his family, enjoyed time spent with friends and was always eager to help anyone in need. He was quite the jokester, always with something funny to say and very often with a nice cold beer in hand. Earnest was a kind and loving man who worked hard throughout his life. He created many lasting friendships and special bonds along the way. Though he loved his children dearly, he may not have gotten everything right. The closeness that may have lacked, he created anew with an undeniable bond he cherished with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Earnest spent his last few years in a Nursing facility following an injury however, he'd often talk of going home one day. On Wednesday, October 2, 2019 our father called Earnest home, maybe not to his earthly home but to a home much better with peace everlasting. Earnest joins his Mother, Father, late wife Lucy, sister Geraldine, and daughter Alcinda along with many other friends and family members in their heavenly home. Those left to cherish his memories are: his only son Ralston Veney of Martinsburg, WV. Two daughters Kathy Winston (William) of Fredericksburg, VA and Tamala Hayes (Michiel) of Leesburg, VA. Eight grandchildren Crystal, Ebony, Roshelle, Brian, Michael, Christopher, DeVaun and Anthony. Four great grandchildren RaShaun, Dorian, Isaiah and KayLani, his sister Mary Veney and nephew Steven Veney of Arlington, VA.
