Obituary of William C. Whitcraft
William Charles Whitcraft “Bill” age 80 of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 2, 2020. He was born on May 26, 1939 in Mulberry, Kansas to the late Charles Theodore and Elnora Vivian (nee Carpenter) Whitcraft. Bill proudly served our country in the US Army as a missile technician stationed in Germany. After serving his country he became a Chicago Police Officer and served for 30 years. He married Barbara Szatkowski, the love of his life and side by side they shared 55 years. Bill retired from the department but kept himself busy working for Garcia Security at Soldier’s Field. He enjoyed traveling, reading newspapers, solving crossword puzzles, cooking and fixing anything that broke or required maintenance himself. Any advice he gave was always simple and direct. He cherished the time with his family and will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Whitcraft and devoted children; Sandra (Gregory) Aloia, Annette (Richard) Pahl, Steven Whitcraft and Elaine Whitcraft, grandchildren; Dominic (Margaret) Aloia, Nicholas Aloia, Gabrielle Aloia, Tyler Pahl and Robert Pahl and great-grandchild Lewis Aloia. Preceded in death by his sister Susan Neace. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Rev. Charles W. Niblick officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 2:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Inurnment to take place at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, Bill would ask that you always carry love in your heart and share that love with those around you.
