Isabelle (Becker) Dawson, 92, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2020. She was born in Cumberland Maryland on May 19, 1927, lived in Rawlings Maryland many years, then moved to Florida for retirement followed by a late in life move to Virginia Beach. She was the daughter of Casper and Elmar Becker. She graduated from Catholic Girls Central High in June 1945, and married Bruce H Dawson in January 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper for several firms over her long career, finishing in an insurance firm. She had four brothers all of whom passed away several years ago.
She is survived by many relatives, two children and their spouses, Jeff/Mary Dawson and Lisa/Brian Miller; 3 grandsons, Garrett, Patrick, Josh-all Eagle Scouts; one granddaughter, Elizabeth who just returned from Peace Corps in Africa; and one great-grandson, Patrick.
She was a lifelong Catholic who belonged to St. Patrick’s and then St. Ambrose parishes. Also, she was a lifelong giver and had an adventurous spirit. She volunteered constantly: Boy Scouts, Church activities, and AARP Tax Help among others. She was on several duckpin bowling championship teams and was a licensed pilot at one point. There were also several long trips to Europe and across the U.S. and Canada. She enjoyed the beach, reading a newspaper, sipping iced tea, and a good game, particularly any card game or dominoes.
Given the pandemic, services will occur later this year. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to fight Alzheimer’s disease.
