Charles S Burggrabe
October 13, 1926 – June 15, 2020

Charles Syll Burggrabe, 93, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2020 in Evansville, Indiana. He was born to the late Charles Joseph and Marie Burggrabe in 1926.
He graduated from Central High School and served in the U.S. Army, 82nd ABN Division during WWII as a Paratrooper. He worked at Swift & Co. and also Alcoa before he served our country in the Army Reserve as Vehicle Shop Foreman until his retirement after 34 years of military service.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and the rock of our family. He was a pilot and enjoyed volunteering for the American Legion, Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross during his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alyena in 1996 and his second wife Catherine in 2010 and his sisters, Mary Jo Reyman, Dorothy Hunt, Marie Tate and Betty Hunt.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia DeVoy (Tony), Donna Hansen (Bob) and his son Charles Burggrabe, grandchildren, Walt, Shellie, Leigh Anne and Nicole and great grandchildren, Theo, Paxton, Ava and Jack and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Alexander East Chapel, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Kapperman Post 44. Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
