Joseph G. Gutierrez Merrillville, IN Joseph G. Gutierrez, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 10:47 PM in Merrillville, Indiana. Joseph was born December 12, 1955 in Guadalajara - Jalisco, Mexico to John Gutierrez and Esther C. Gutierrez-Juan. Joseph was a loving husband, devoted father, amazing grandfather, brother and friend. He had an amazing collection of tools and enjoyed fixing anything he could use those tools with. Being a master mechanic was not only his passion but also was his livelihood. His grandchildren will remember him for the time he cherished and memories he made with them. Grandpa Joe, would sit down and play video games with them and allow them to be kids. His kindness and never ending love of his family will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalba Gutierrez; loving mother, Esther Gutierrez; doting children, Norma (Jaime) Gomez, Aide (Tizoc R.) Amaro, Santiago Herrera, Saul (Jennifer) Herrera, Teamisha Gutierrez and her fiancé, Sean, Crystal G. Gutierrez, Maria (Omar) Velez, Joseph W. Gutierrez; grandchildren, Alejandro Alba, Brianna R. Alba, Luke J. Gomez, Mariano T. Amaro, Xochitl G. Amaro, Isabel Herrera, Berenice Herrera, Angelica Herrera, Sergio Herrera, Mason Herrera, Jaden Hacha, Jaron Hacha, Jalen Hacha, Jamen Hacha, Kai Kenny, Addison R. Borders, two sisters, Christine (Mauro) Gonzalez, Lindalee (Raymond) Alford, and brother, John Gutierrez. Joseph was preceded in death by his father, John Gutierrez and his grandson, Kaleb M. Shoemaker. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Joseph will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Pastor Randy Harrison officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family following the service from 12:00 PM - 2:00PM that same afternoon. Please leave words of kindness and comfort below for the family.
