Obituary of Robert Christopher Anderson
Robert C. Anderson departed this life peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Master Sergeant Anderson was born March 21, 1963 in Harlem, New York. After graduating from John F Kennedy High School in January 1982, he attended Bronx Community College and majored in electrical engineering until May 1, 1984. On May 5th while in college, he spoke with local recruiters and enlisted in the delayed entry program May 10, 1984. On May 19, 1984, he shipped off for the recruit training in Beaufort, South Carolina. He attended his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) School for Food Service Specialist at Camp Johnson, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In November of 1984 Private First Class Anderson received orders to 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as a cook on watch. In November of 1986, Corporal Anderson received orders to MWSS 172 Futema, Japan, where he served as a cook on watch and then transferred over to the Field Mess where he worked as the Warehouse, NCO. In December of 1986 Corporal Anderson received orders to 1st Tank Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as a cook on watch. In August of 1989 Corporal Anderson received orders to the 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, Camp Pendleton, CA, where he served as the Salad Room NCO. During a six-month deployment to Okinawa, Japan, Camp Schwab in 1990, Sergeant Anderson served as the chief mess man in charge of 50 Marines. Upon returning from deployment in August of 1990 Sergeant Andersons unit trained for operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Sergeant Anderson did a 7month combat tour and received orders in August 1991 to Base Food Services, Camp Pendleton, CA where he worked as a Quality Assurance Evaluator, inspecting16 Mess Halls aboard Camp Pendleton. In December of 1993 Sergeant Anderson received orders to recruiters’ school and was stationed at RSS Richmond, VA from March 1994-March 1997. Staff Sergeant Anderson received orders to MWSS 372 Camp Pendleton, CA where he was the SNCOIC of Field Mess. SSgt Anderson was fapped down to H&S Co. in August of 1999 where he worked in the 24-area dining facility as chief cook. In January of 2001 Gunnery Sergeant Anderson received orders to Camp Fuji where he served as the Food Service Officer. In February of 2002, GySgt Anderson received orders to 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, CA, where he was the Assistant Mess hall Manager. In February of 2003 GySgt Anderson deployed with Combat Service Support Brigade (CSSB) 18 in support of OEF-1. In October of 2005 Msgt Anderson played a key role in standing up the Food Service Company. Msgt Anderson served as the Operations Chief for the Food Service Company. In February of 2006, Master Sergeant Anderson deployed as part of the MLG’s G-4 Staff as the MLG’s Food Service Technician for OEF-3. From August of 2006 to October 2007, Msgt Anderson filled the Billet as the G-4 Food Service Officer & Food Service Technician due to Personal being Forward Deployed. From October 2007 to November 2008, Msgt Anderson filled the Billet as the G-4 Safety Officer & MLG Safety Chief due to Personal being Forward Deployed. From November 2008 to November 2009, Msgt Anderson Filled the Billet as the Operations Chief for G-4 Food Service. From February 2009 to September 2009 Msgt Filled the Billet as the Senior Military Liaison for the 14 Area Regimental Mess hall. From September 2009 to January 2010 Msgt Anderson Filled the Billet as Personal Chief in charge of 120 Marines in Food Service Company. From January 2010 to May 2010 Msgt Anderson Filled the Billet as the G-4 Food Service Operations Chief. From September 2010 to August 2020, Msgt Anderson worked at the Marine Corp Community Services at Quantico Marine Base, as the Sports Director and Recreational Attendant. Master Sergeant Anderson married, the former Angela Ward of Suffolk, Virginia. They have 2 children; Chantel Arbor and Robyn Anderson, 3 grandchildren; Tamarah Arbor, Micah Arbor and Da’Mhad Hyde Jr. and one son-in-law Kevin Arbor. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00pm Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg where funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, August 3, 2020. Interment with military honors will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
