Romulus Buckland "Cork" Thomas Jr.

R. Buckland “Cork” Thomas, Jr., 88, of Newburgh, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020. He was born December 11, 1931 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to the late Romulus B. and Althea (Groves) Thomas, Sr.
He was a US Army veteran and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Cork was the original Medical Director for St. Mary’s Medical Center Psychiatric Unit. He retired from private practice at Mulberry Center, Inc. Two of his favorite pastimes were owning and working at his dairy and beef farm in Monroe, WI, and also hunting.
Buckland is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cheryl; daughters, Susan Thomas and Cynthia Kopka; son, William Thomas (Melanie); stepdaughters, Angela Rodman and Melissa Oakland; grandchildren, Christopher Thomas; Rachel Troxal, Jacob Wisniewski, Sophia Stephens and Olivia Stephens; great-grandchildren, Max, Forrest and Lucy, and brother, James Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Claude Burns, with entombment in St. John Mausoleum.
