Obituary of John Anderson Droste
John Anderson Droste, age 65, of Nashville, Indiana passed away after a prolonged illness on September 24, 2020, at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. John was born February 15, 1955, in Urbana, Illinois to John Brown Droste and Mary Anderson Droste. During his teenage years, John was active with the Boy Scouts of America and the Wapahani shooting team. While in scouting, John became the youngest ever to attain the highest rank, Eagle Scout. John was a member of the Bloomington High School class of 1973. During his attendance at Indiana University, he was a member of the I.U. Rifle and Pistol team where he became a proficient shooter. He went on to enjoy shooting throughout his life and was a member of the NRA. While at IU, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and the IU Police Department. He then went on to work in Wabash, Indiana with the Wabash Police Department and later volunteered with the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department. He was the owner and operator of Black Diamond Logistics. John also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and trading on the stock market. John is survived by his loving wife, Doris (Wynne) Droste, of Nashville, Indiana whom he married on November 16, 1991; his mother, Mary Anderson Droste, of Bloomington; daughter, Elizabeth (Anna) Droste-Glowinski, of Indianapolis; sons, Randi (Jenny) Harris, of Carmel and Wesley (Brittany) Harris, of Nashville; brother, Stephen Droste, of Bloomington; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lila, Josephine, and Charlotte Droste-Glowinski, Isla Harris, Alexander Harris, and Ellie Dawn Dupuis. John was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Elmer and Beatrice Droste; maternal grandparents, Henry and Ruth Anderson; his father, John Brown Droste, and daughter, Jennifer Marie Droste. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Life on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. with Rev. Helen Hempfling officiating. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will begin at 4:00 p.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be given to Boy Scouts of America https://donations.scouting.org/#/council/145/appeal/3402.
