Dorcenus Daniel Underwood

Born August 16, 1985 in Kinder, LA, he was the son of the late Gary and Rebecca Underwood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Grady Underwood; Billy “Butch” and Shirley “Ann” Shirley; his maternal grandparents Dorcenus and Bertha Deshotal.

Daniel is survived by his brother, Jacob (Jesse) Stein, his sister, Matha Underwood; his aunt, Ami (Paul) Allen; his uncle Lowell (Jenny) Underwood; his aunt Kelly Coffey and grandmother, Alice Underwood.

He also leaves many cousins and close family members.

Daniel was raised with the values of hard work and dedication to friends and family that would come to define his life. He was always known as a generous person with a big heart who was willing to help others and easily made friends with his charismatic charm.

Although no longer with us, the impact of his memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Sherando United Methodist Church, 2022 Howardsville turnpike, Stuarts Draft, Va. A visitation will be held one hour to the service.
