Kathleen W. Tanner

Kathleen W. Tanner, 96, died Monday, May 13, 2019, in Franklin, TN. Kathleen was born in Auburn, KY, daughter of Callie Elizabeth and Walter Henry Whitlow. She was preceded in death by Gerald, her husband of 54 years, sister Mary Elizabeth Mimms and brother Richard Whitlow. Kathleen worked at Castner-Knott in customer service from 1946 until she retired in 1987. She was a member at Crievewood Baptist Church. Kathleen loved being outside and spent many happy hours creating a beautiful yard. She enjoyed time at Old Hickory Lake, boating and fishing and barbequing with friends and family. Kathleen’s winning smile and loving ways made her a friend to many people. She was a beautiful person and one’s life was enriched by knowing her. Peggy Whitaker was her personal assistant and dear friend for the last 5 years of her life. The caregivers and medical staff at NHC Cool Springs gave her excellent care the last 3.5 years. Their consistent gentleness and caring made her happy there. Kathleen is survived by a nephew and 5 great nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law. Visitation will be at Brentwood Funeral Home, Brentwood, TN on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 9:30am. The funeral will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Russellville, KY the same day at 3:00pm.
