Obituary of John Richard Prickett
John Richard Prickett, 71, of Fredericksburg passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. John was born October 20, 1947 at Camp John Hay, Baguio Mt. Province Philippines. He was proud to be from the baby boomer generation. Being raised all over the world as an Air Force child the experiences instilled the courage and inspiration to continue to explore the world when he was older. He was an avid traveler, and when he wasn’t physically traveling to new destinations he was dreaming up where he would like to go next. In June 1977, John was invited to a party by his sister, Elaine, where he met his future wife, Terry. They were married a year later, on January 6, 1979. Together they raised two daughters in Fredericksburg, all while running his own land development and construction business. Savvy, intelligent and creative were all attributes of his business sense. With their fair share of hard times and tragedies John maintained his strong faith to his family and to God. His faith, discovered later in life, led him to be a fervent disciple of Jesus. He was always eager to share his love for the Lord to anyone and everyone that was willing to listen. He treasured his family both near and far based on the example shown to him by his mother, Christine. He would have given a perfect stranger the shirt off his own back if he felt they needed it more than him. His benevolent nature led to the Lord bestowing on him countless blessings. However, he was quick to explain that he wasn’t blessed because he was so smart or so wonderful but it was because of the Lord. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Terry; his daughters, Alicia Prickett Rivas and Danielle Prickett Main; his sisters, JoAnna Doherty, Elaine Torres, and Mary Prickett; 6 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon C. Prickett, and his mother, Christine B. Prickett. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Fredericksburg Full Gospel Fellowship. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at Kidney.org. Online condolences may be sent at mullinsthompsonfredericksburg.com
