Obituary of Phillip L. Jennings
A Memorial Mass for Phillip L. Jennings Sr., age 91 of Ogdensburg and formerly of Alexandria Bay will be held on Friday (June 21, 2019) at 1:00pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg with Rev. Justin Thomas officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Cyril Cemetery. Mr. Jennings passed away at the St. Joseph’s Home early Friday morning (June 14, 2019) surrounded by his loving family. Surviving is his wife of 71 years Jean (Cassaw) Jennings; eight children Michael (Alice) Jennings of Watertown, Richard (Carol) Jennings of Watertown, Barbara (Jerry) Kroeger of Ogdensburg, Donald (Sandra) Jennings of Davenport FL, Joan (Jeff) Hewitt of Nashville TN, Nancy Wheeler of Liverpool, James (Kathy) Jennings of Syracuse and Phillip (Sharon) Jennings Jr. of Memphis NY; 29- grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren also survive. A daughter Laura Scinta; a brother Earl Jennings and a sister Helen Hudson predeceased him. Phillip was born on January 25, 1928 in Gouverneur NY, a son of Guy & Marion (Myers) Jennings. He attended Gouverneur High School and later entered the US Army during WWII. He then married Jean Cassaw on June 30, 1948. He was employed by NY Telephone as a foreman for 33 years in both Gouverneur and Alexandria Bay. He retired in 1985. Phillip was a charter member of the Gouverneur Elks Club, a member of the Gouverneur Fire Department, a member and past president of the Alexandria Bay Rotary Club, where he was also awarded the Paul Harris Award. Phillip enjoyed socializing with friends, winters in Florida and spending time with his family. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Home, 950 Linden Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
