Maximo Garcia Jr.

Maximo Garcia born on July 16, 1968 went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2023 at the age of 54. Max is preceded in death by his parents Maximo Garcia Sr., Maria G. Garcia, and his sister Rosa Martinez and brother Jesse Martinez. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Ruby Garcia, daughters Dorothy and Grace, son Maximo Garcia III, and grandsons Isaiah and Mason; sister Dolores Martinez (David), brothers Johnny Garcia, Victor Martinez, Joe Martinez, Daniel Martinez (Cindy), Mike Martinez, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He began his career with Northside ISD in 1986 at Holmes High School where he developed long lasting friendships and ever lasting memories with his colleagues and students. In 2022, he started at Sotomayor High School developing new friendships and leaving a lasting impression in the small amount of time he was there. Max was a shining light, a man who welcomed all he came across, into his heart and home, with open arms. He listened, offered advice, coached, and provided plenty of laughs to everyone he came in contact with. He loved spending time with his family - camping, fishing, and BBQing. He loved sports with the Miami Dolphins being his favorite team along with the Chicago Cubs, San Antonio Spurs, and LSU Tigers. Max also spent his free time coaching baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball teams through CYO sports for his children for many years.He planned to retire in the next few years and spend time traveling with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones. The visitation services will be 6 pm to 9 pm, Friday January 27, 2023at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel followed by the funeral service at 2 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2023. There will be a reception to follow at Sunset Reception Hall after the his burial.
