Pauline E. Deckard

Pauline E. Deckard died peacefully at the age of 100 on September 25, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family at her residence in McCormick’s Creek Rehab and Nursing Center in Spencer, IN. Pauline was born and raised in Bloomington to the late John and Clara (Polly) Stephens. Pauline was a homemaker and mother to nine children, eight of whom survive. She married Vernon Deckard and he preceded her in death in October, 1972. Pauline was an avid reader of the Bible; and loved to sing and whistle. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor. She is survived by her nine children and their spouses: Carolyn (Walter) Graham of Patricksburg, IN, Patty Bruce of Indianapolis, Beverly (Charles) Greenwood of Columbus, IN, Jerry (Sherry) Deckard of Bowling Green, IN, Bill Deckard of Spencer, IN, Janice (Anver) Grooms of Plainfield, IN, Brenda (Steve) Watkins of Plainfield, IN, Roger (Sohm) Deckard of Leighigh, FL.; 20 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by three brothers; Kenneth Stephens, John Stephens, Ronald Stephens and one sister; Glodine Floyd. Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Deckard, six sisters; Mary Blackwell, Opal Baxter, Nora Henderson, Edna Baxter, Pearl Fleenor and Goldie Black. Visitation for Pauline will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 5-8 pm in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. with one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Rusty Deckard, Pauline’s grandson will officiate the service.
