OBITUARY

Mrs. Victoria Banzon Gamiao

August 18, 1935June 22, 2020

Victoria was born in Balanga Bataan, Philippines on August 18, 1935. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and in Banking and Finance. She later fell in love and married her “Peping”, Jose, on March 11, 1961. They celebrated 59 years of marriage that began in the Philippines and continued in the United States. She worked several years at the George Washington University and George Washington University Medical Center.

She loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and spoiling her grandchildren equally with matching outfits and gifts for every occasion. She taught her children and grandchildren how to give to the less fortunate and love with all your heart. As her youngest child always said, “If Nanay could feed the world, she would.” Victoria or “Nanay” is survived by her husband, Jose Collado Gamiao or “Tatay”; her children, Bernardo Gamiao “B1”, Benedicto Gamiao “B2”, Bethsaida Hilario “B3” (and husband Rupert Hilario), Bender Gamiao “B4”, and Bernadette Alaisa “B5” (and husband Celso Alaisa); her grandchildren, Joesar Peter Alva, Jennybeth Alva, Victoria Jeanne Butler, Paul Rainier Hilario, Chanelle Gamiao, Bernard James Gamiao, Grant Gamiao, Rochelle Ann Hilario, Kenneth Ryan Alaisa, and Alex Michelle Gamiao; her sister, Francisca Bustamante; and nieces who were like daughters to her, Estrella Gonzalez, Zenaida McMahon, and Luzviminda Sanvictores.

Dear Lola Toyang,

One of the best times I remember growing up was when we were together on weekends and during our summer vacations, turning simple days into memorable, happy, family times. I keep these moments close to my heart.
You are one of the pillars of our family. You have shown and taught us to look after each other and to love each other, because in the end, after all, we only have each other. Thank you for all the love Lola; God be with you.

Love, Evan and Family.

People flutter in and out of our lives, sometimes leaving impressionable memories and sometimes a lesson in life. A mother’s truest accomplishments are her children and how they positively influence others. Bernadette is an impressionable memory. Getting to know Bernadette has shown me the strength in character, the kindness and supportive mother that you were. Through her I can see the wonderfulness that you’ve imparted in life. Mrs. Gamiao, may peace and love continue to follow you in your journey.

My condolences to everyone in the Gamiao family and may the fond memories help to nurture and heal the grief and loss that you feel.

With much love and sympathy,

Aloha

Bender and family. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. I know you are a close family and a loss such as this is a terrible blow. Nothing will ever prepare you for the loss of your Mother.

I pray for you and your family comfort and peace at this difficult time and pray to look for the time - that will come - when these sad and painful memories of today will be overtaken by sweet memories of your Mother’s life and joy.

Peace and comfort to you all.

David

Nanay, I miss you so much! Thank you for always taking me grocery shopping with you and Tatay when I was a little girl. You’d always make sure I picked out candy, hair accessories, or magazines so that I wouldn’t leave the store empty handed. My childhood was filled with so much love and happy memories because of you both. There’s no place likes Nanay & Tatay’s... I love you...<3

I have'nt seen Nanay Vicky for a while . But her daugther Beth and siblings are my best friends and they had treated me like part of their family since 1985 up to present time. The last. time. I saw Nanay Vicky and Tatay was probably 2yrs ago at Benders birthday party, I was with my fiance that time although they didn't remember who I was The warm welcome was still there. I remember Nanay Vicky giving me advice back then about family. She is the most caring and loving person that I have ever met, Our deepest sympathy and prayers to the Family. I will miss her so so much. Love and prayer from Tess and Gavin

Farewell to a very dear lady, my second Nanay. You took me into your home back in my 1980s in Camp Aguinaldo. You treated me as one of your own children, for that I am grateful.

The level of selflessness, care, generosity and overflowing love that came from this amazing woman was such a paramount characteristic to how she was as a person. She'd left long lasting pieces of those traits ingrained within her family evident in the way they treated me when I came to visit them in Virginia.

My love and condolences to Tatay, Boy, Bene,Beth,Adette and Bender.
