Obituary of Arthur C. Pinnow
Arthur (Art) C. Pinnow Born May 27, 1929 in Barrington IL. He grew up in Glenview IL. Attended Concordia H.S. where he participated in Football, Basketball, Baseball & Track. Attended Concordia Teachers College River Forest IL. and received a B.S. degree in education in 1951. He taught for thirteen years at St. Paul’s Lutheran School Ft. Wayne where he also coached all sports and worked with their Youth Program. He attended Ball State University for his M.A. in education in 1959. Accepted a call to Concordia Lutheran H.S. in 1964 where he was head of the Social Studies Department for 24 years. Coached several sports while at Concordia. Assistant in football, Freshman and Reserve basketball and Head Coach for Girls varsity basketball for 4 years. Was the first girls Golf Coach. Art retired from Concordia in 1990. During his summers he worked for the Wildcat Baseball league for 38 years and was the Commissioner for 29 years. Art wrote a book titled Everybody Makes The Team for the 25th anniversary of the Wildcat Baseball program. Art was named to the FWOBA Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. After retirement Art taught at Parkview Behavioral Center for 12 years, St. Paul’s Middle School - Social Studies for 3 years and volunteered at Parkview Hospice for 5 years. Art was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Elsie Pinnow, brothers Richard, Robert, William and grandson Nicholas Pinnow. He is survived by his wife Esther (Hostrup) son John & wife Marti (Greenwood IN.) granddaughter Mimi Pinnow, daughter Cynthia & Keith Macke (Hoagland IN). Grandchildren Brittany (Schreiber), Kelsey (Grillot), Hailey Macke, Kyle Macke, 4 great grandchildren Adalyn, Theodor, Brantley & Winston. Art & Esther are members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and were married for 63 years. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Saturday, February 29, 2020, at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 S Barr Street, Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Friday, February 28, 2020, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home.
