Evelyn “Evie” Ruth Brown, 93, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. The daughter of the late William and Pauline Beckman, she attended Adams Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1943. During World War II, she served as a SPAR in the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. For nearly 28 years, she was a receptionist at Aiken Clinic. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 82 and Brent Cooper’s “Memories of the KING” fan club. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Allen) Howe and Paula (Jim) Phillips, both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Chad Howe of Fort Wayne, Kelli (Jason) Satterly of San Diego, Calif., and Billy Phillips of Bloomington; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Everett, and Jackson Satterly, all of San Diego, Calif. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Brownie” Brown; two sons, William and Ron Brown; and three sisters, Patricia Carle, Pauline Fabian, and Mary Friend. She cherished her many friends and her experience with Honor Flight. We will miss her smiling presence and loving heart. At her request and by prearrangement, there will be no viewing or memorial service. She wished to be remembered for the good times when she was enjoying life.
