Marie C. Aguirre, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. Born March 25, 1925, in Pueblo, Colo., she was a daughter of the late Odelon and Maria de Jesus (Hernandez) Robles. Marie married the love of her life, Mateo Aguirre Sr., on June 21, 1944, and was married over 70 years before his passing in 2014. The heart of the family, Marie was a wonderful homemaker, treasured mother, beautiful grandmother, and loving sister. A woman of strong faith and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she lived as God’s servant; always helping and giving to others. She enjoyed cooking, going to church, and dancing with her husband. She is survived by her children, Maria de Jesus Vasquez of Fort Wayne, Felipa (Frank) Lozano of Fort Wayne, Louis Aguirre of Fort Wayne, Gloria Vasquez of Fort Wayne, Mateo (Cassandra) Aguirre of Fort Wayne, Maria A. Aguirre of Fort Wayne, Joseph (Diane) Aguirre of Fort Wayne, and Rosa (Jose) Luera of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Aguirre of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Juan and Tomas Aguirre; daughter-in-law, Gloria Aguirre; grandson, Martin Vasquez; great-grandson, Benjamin Vasquez; and several siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Father Evaristo Oliveras officiating. Calling will also be from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:30pm. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memories of Maria Aguirre will long be treasured by all of us who loved this loving, gentle and kind little woman who was the heart of her family. She was precious to her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. She and her husband taught their children life lessons by example. We were honored to call her friend for many years.
