Barbara Simpson Drash

Barbara Simpson Drash, 71, of Spotsylvania County passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital. Barbara was much loved by the host of family and friends whom she has left behind. However, she left behind her a legacy of love, caring and kindness which were attributes of her whole life. No one who ever met Barbara was ever again the same. She brought a spark of love to all, an unselfish sharing of herself with everyone she met, and left everyone better for having known her. Her smile was infectious and touched everyone who saw it. They could not help but smile in return. She made each person she encountered feel as if they were truly special, and to her, they were. She was genuine, she was sincere and she was unique. The world is sadder for her passing, it is not as warm as it once was. Though she will not pass by this way again, she has left behind her a glowing and warm trail of happy memories and many, many hearts which were touched by her and changed forever. Survivors include her husband, Layne, her children Melanie Theresa Bibens, her husband Jim and sons Joshua and Jordan; Erik Layne Drash and his daughters, Lizzy, Victoria and Alexandra; and Stuart Andrew Drash, his wife Jennifer and children Connor and Dylan. Also survived are her brother, Lester G. Simpson, Jr., his wife Lee; sisters Jacquelyn Floreen, Carolyn Brooks and her husband Rex. Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson, Justyn Layne Drash, her father, Lester Simpson Sr., her Mother, Jeanne Prevost Simpson and her sister, Madelyn Lowry. A memorial service will be conducted 10 AM -11 AM on Saturday, May 26 at Salem Fields Community Church, Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Interment will be private and occur at a later date. Memorials to Barbara may be made to the "Make a Wish Foundation," or to a charitable organization of your choice.
