Obituary of Grace Swanson Longerbeam
Grace Swanson Longerbeam, age 90, of Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 9, 1933, in Washington , DC, Daughter of the late Algron Weedon and Agnes Hawkins. Grace was an incredible woman who impacted the lives of many. She is known for her love of games, especially with daily crossword puzzles. She liked watching soap operas, game shows, and keeping up with the latest gossip by reading the tabloids and newspapers. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations for all to enjoy. Grace lovingly cared for three generations and was truly the heart of her family. She had the ability to make everyone feel special which led her to be an inspiration to all who knew her. Like her name, Grace not only carried herself with compassion and patience, but dignity and honor. Her legacy will be filled with countless memories of the remarkable woman we all know as a sister, a mom, and grandma, and a nana. Grace will be extremely missed by her entire family and will live through those who love her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Longerbeam Sr. and a granddaughter, Lisa Mawyer Hamilton. She is survived by her two sons, Charles Longerbeam Jr. and Richard Longerbeam (Lea); a daughter, Debra Mawyer; three grandchildren, David W. Mawyer, Pamela L. Chambers and Joshua C. Longerbeam; and five great-grandchildren, Danielle Hamilton, Austin Chambers, Maximus Mawyer, Leo Chambers, and Colton Chambers. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10AM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service in Fredericksburg with a funeral service to follow. A burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at 12PM following the service.
