Constance "Connie" Hurd Tracy

Constance "Connie" Hurd Tracy, age 94, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024. Connie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Margaret “Peggy” Skinner Hurd and Edwin C. Hurd. Connie was a graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis; Wheaton College in Norton Massachusetts and received her MS in Elementary Education from Butler University. She was a 5th grade teacher at Lakeside Elementary in the Warren Township School Corporation from 1976 to 1996. She was a member of Executive Service Corps, National Society of Colonial Dames, Junior League of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Day Nursery, Children's Bureau Auxiliary, and Marquette Manor Foundation Board. She was a long time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and a member of Second Presbyterian Church for the last several years. Connie had a great love for music, children, animals especially dogs, her family, volunteer work, her friends and her faith. Most important to Connie was her 4 beautiful daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren . Connie is survived by her daughters: Kristi H. Doublin (Robert); Karen Leonard (Andrew); Katrina H. Smith (Brian); and Katherine “Kathy” Tracy Tarak. Constance is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her husband James E. Tracy; her father Edwin C. Hurd; her mother Margaret “Peggy” Skinner Hurd; sister Portia Hurd King; brother Edwin C. “Ted” Hurd, Jr.; aunt Elizabeth “Betty” Hurd McMurray; uncle Robert McMurray; and son-in-law Brian S. Smith. A visitation for Connie will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will immediately follow at Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Riley Hospital for Children Foundation.
