Obituary of William T. Parker
Bill Parker passed away at his home in Martinsville on September 11, 2019. Bill was born William Taylor Parker on March 22nd, 1951 in Indianapolis to Richard Paul Parker Sr and Betty Ann Parker. They were great parents who taught the Parker boys their love of family and life, right and wrong, personal responsibility and the pride and the pleasures of doing a job well. They loved us and we loved them. Bill is survived by his son, Jeff Faires (Martinsville, Indiana) and his brothers, Richard Parker (Cicero, Indiana) and David Parker Sr (Las Vegas, Nevada). Bill graduated from North Central High School on Indianapolis’s north side in 1969, then spent a year at Hanover College. He enjoyed playing football and wrestling at both schools learning life lessons in the process that he carried throughout his life. Graduating from IU Bloomington in 1973, Bill took off to California to find his dreams and destiny. It was in San Fransisco in 1974 when Bill began his jouneyman’s apprenticeship as a Private Investigator with D. R. Weeks and Company, a forty plus year career that would last his entire life. This career spanned the globe resolving issues for titans of industry, political mavens and individuals in crisis. It was a great life, catching bad guys and righting wrongs and getting paid for it. Life was always exciting and hopefully a lot of good was done. In 1978, Bill met his future wife, Candace Balay, in court where both had legal business. On October 21st of that year, Bill and Candy were married. Bill and Candy took over the Parker family business, Nora Security, in Indianapolis until it was sold to an international security company in the 1990’s. Then Bill created his new investigative company, Sigco, that would endure until his passing. Bill was blessed with a son, Jeff, who remained with him till his death. Bill considered his marriage and family to be the greatest achievement of his life. He was with his wife when she passed in April 2014 in the Florida Keys. In late 2015, Bill moved back to his home state of Indiana where he purchased his last home and property in Mt. Nebo, just outside Martinsville, Indiana. Here, he spent the last of his days with his loving son, Jeff and his faithful dog, Kasey. In this final period of Bill’s life, he shared his business, Sigco, with his nephew David Parker Jr. Bill loved his life. It was a great one to live. He was never more proud than when his son, Jeff, became a man, made his own career and took care of his dad at the end. Bill’s love of his wife never left him and he considered his marriage to Candy as the greatest accomplishment of his life. To his wife: “I have always loved you, even before we met. I love you now and I always will. You were the best of me.” To his son: “Thank you for being with me and being my son. I’m so proud of you. You are the best of me.” To his brothers: “We have something special between us. Mom and Dad taught us how to love each other as brothers. We are one. You are the best of me.” To David Jr, Paul, Brittney, Marybeth, Julie, Elizabeth, Bonnie, Ted, Jack, friends old and new: “Thank you for letting me into your life. I am a better person for knowing and loving you. Godspeed. Bill Parker
