Dewey Clayton Duncan Jr.

Dewey Clayton Duncan, Jr., 81, of Banks Road in Martinsville, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Blue Ridge Manor in Martinsville where he had been a resident for the past several months. He was born in Martinsville, VA on September 8, 1931 to Dewey C. Duncan, Sr. and Elsie Campbell Duncan, both deceased. Mr. Duncan, a 1948 graduate of Ridgeway High School, served in the Air Force for 22 years where he acquired the rank of Tech Sgt. and also received two Oak Leaf Clusters. After his military career, he was head teller at SunTrust Bank in Martinsville for 20 years. He was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Sexton and Donna Moyer; two brothers, Billy and Bobby Duncan, and two grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Crenshaw Duncan of the residence; two sons, Daniel C. Duncan of Goochland, VA and David A. Duncan of London, England; one step-daughter, Melanie Rorrer of Martinsville; one step-son, Scott Wall of Christiansburg; two sisters, Imogene Hodges of Ridgeway and Betty Ellen Stephen of Maryland; one brother, Robert Duncan of Maryland; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and the mother of his children, Mavis F. Greenfield of London, England. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 3:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Palmer Lowery officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors by Seymour Johnson AFB Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
