Elsie Minter

Elsie Hodnett Minter, 95, of Martinsville, VA, passed away on August 29, 2018, at King’s Grant Retirement Community. She was born October 14, 1922, in Martinsville to Ernest and Ella Stokes Hodnett.
Mrs. Minter was a homemaker who loved to tend her rose bushes, sew beautiful quilts, and provide food for her friends from their garden. She had been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Martinsville since 1943.
She was predeceased in April by her loving husband of 73 years, Clifford L. Minter. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Elizabeth W. Minter; brothers; Warren Hodnett, Robert Hodnett; sisters, Margaret Higgins and Ruby Minter. Surviving are her two children: Michael K. Minter (Emmie), Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Deborah Minter Landis, Salem, VA; four grandchildren: Heather (Chris) Sumner, Mt. Pleasant, SC; Michael (Perry) Minter, Lake Forest, IL; Will (Hannah) Minter, Denver, Colorado; and Laura (Brad) Scott, Salem, VA. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the King’s Grant nursing staff and Mountain Valley Hospice for the care provided to their beloved mother. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Martinsville. Visitation will be in the church parlor one hour prior to the service. Reverend John Fulcher will officiate and will be assisted by Chaplain Paul Johnson of King’s Grant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
