James Woodrow Turner

James Woodrow Turner, 79, of Martinsville, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
Jimmy was born in Collinsville, VA on August 29, 1939 to Woodrow Amos Turner and Virginia Lee McCrickard Turner, both deceased. He was a 1957 graduate of Fieldale High School, the National Business College and retired from E. I. Du Pont de Nemours. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, coach and friend, who touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Walker Turner; a daughter, Catherine Turner; two sons, David Turner (Tracy) and Michael Turner (Debbie); three granddaughters, Lauren Harrell, Brittany Turner and Kristen Turner; and three grandsons, Sage Turner, Hutch Turner and Jack Turner.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Martinsville with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Knight officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 E. Church Street, Martinsville, VA 24112.
