Loretta Dempsey Calaman
July 11, 1919 – April 30, 2017
Loretta Dempsey Calaman, 97, of Martinsville passed away on April 30, 2017. Loretta was born on July 11, 1919 in Mildred, PA to James and Florence Dempsey.
She married Victor Calaman on Dec 27, 1943 at St Francis Church in Mildred. She is survived by her five children: Beverly Turner Lake Mary, Florida, Douglas Calaman (Becky) Waterford, MI, James Calaman (Terri) Virginia Beach, VA, Vic Calaman Jr (Liz) Richmond, VA & Lynn, Virginia Beach, VA.
Her surviving brothers & sisters are: James AKA (Bud) Dempsey, West Seneca, NY, Jane Freiler, Dushore, PA, Jerry (Sylvia) Dempsey, Dover, Delaware & Mary Finan, Dushore, PA.; 8 Grand Children & 9 Great Grand Children; numerous nieces and nephews; special niece Felecia Calaman Childress of Martinsville, VA. And special mention to Smokey the family dog.
Visitation will be Friday May 5th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church from 12:00-1:00, with service to follow.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Loretta’s name can be made to: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 2481 Spruce St. Martinsville, VA 24112, where Loretta, Victor and their family were members for over 50 years.
