Obituary of Anthony J. Witmeier
Anthony J. Witmeier, 81, of Newburgh, IN passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Evansville on July 27, 1937 to the late Joseph and Antoinette Witmeier. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Evansville Athletic Club, and Eagles. Tony served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Kapperman Post 44. He retired as a Supervisor from ALCOA (Ingot Department) and worked part time at Builders’ Square. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing golf, line dancing and he was an avid coin collector. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandsons. Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Witmeier. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Ann Witmeier; son, Ray Witmeier (Robyn); and daughter, Rachelle Witmeier all of Newburgh; grandsons, Erik Witmeier, Ethan Clark, Anthony Witmeier, Zachary Hatfield; sisters, Carol Witmeier, Rita Wolf (Kenny); brothers, Paul Witmeier (Janet), Gary Witmeier (Cindy); and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center, Oasis Dementia Care, Dr. Mohammed Allaw, and Deaconess VNA Hospice. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Tom Kessler with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 3-8 PM on Thursday and 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
