Deborah "Debby" L. Sloat

Deborah “Debby” Sloat, 71, of Newburgh, IN passed away Friday, October 5, 2018. She was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, IN to the late Charles Walter and Mary Helen Crawley. Debby graduated from Harrison High School in Evansville, IN in 1965. She married the love of her life, Samuel L. Sloat, III on December 12, 1966. As a young woman she was active with the Eastern Star and worked for the Selective Service. After having her son, John, in 1970, she spent the rest of her life as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was very involved with activities related to John’s school and sports. For years she delighted to be involved in the planning of her high school reunions and loved attending them. Debby was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Samuel Sloat; and her son, John Sloat (Teresa) of Fishers, IN. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261 with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts to American Cancer Society are welcomed.
