George Thomas Herbster

George Thomas “Tom” Herbster, age 53, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 in Newburgh, IN. Born in Lewistown, PA, he was the son of Frances Karen “Kay” Shingler Herbster and the late Thomas Clayton “Pap” Herbster. He earned his BS in Accounting from Clemson University in Clemson, SC, and was a Certified Public Accountant. Tom was a true multidisciplinary having worked in Public Accounting, textile manufacturing, specialty chemicals, operations management and business systems implementations. Tom was an avid Clemson fan, proud season ticket holder and never missed a chance to see the Tigers, especially in postseason. Tom enjoyed running, filing taxes for family and friends, golfing, Clemson tailgating and more recently, scuba diving with Savannah. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Laura Lollis Herbster of Newburgh, IN; his ‘mini-me’ pride and joy, Savannah Herbster, a sophomore at Anderson University in Anderson, SC; and two sisters, Natalie Roberts and her husband Terence, of Anderson, SC and Nedra Ulrich and her husband Phil, of Los Gatos, CA; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, SC. There will be a private family graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Chris Sustar officiating. Social distancing will be observed during the visitation.
