Jean M. Church, 94, of Newburgh, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. She was born May 29, 1925 to the late Ralph and Helen (Copeland) Munkers.
She attended Living Word Church in Newburgh. She played the organ at her church for many years and sang in the choir at Red Ridge Church in Dadeville, AL. Jean loved traveling, was an accomplished artist and enjoyed golfing, Christmas stockings, and playing bridge and other card games. Most of her retirement years were spent in Stillwaters, AL on Lake Martin.
Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Ooms; first husband, Harold Brown, and second husband, Clyde Church.
She is survived by daughter, Christine McGavin of Evansville; son, Michael Brown (Jane) of Newburgh; grandchildren, Alissa Brown of Lisle, IL and Nick Brown of Indianapolis, and nieces and nephews of North Carolina and Florida.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Primrose Retirement Community and SouthernCare Hospice for their care and compassion.
A Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Mike Claypool, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
