John W. Harris, 78, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Transcendent Healthcare in Boonville. He was born in Lamar, IN, on March 21, 1936 to Gilbert W. and Mary D. (Conway) Harris.
He graduated from Dale High School in 1953. During his life he farmed, served in the U.S. Army, owned a Harley Davidson dealership in Amarillo, TX and worked at Alcoa for over 30 years. John was an avid hunter, fisherman and a lifetime member of NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mary (Conway) Harris.
John is survived by his sons, Brian S. Harris of Lebanon, IN and Eric A. Harris of Newburgh, IN; sisters, Linda Lautner, Carole Amlingmeyer, Doris Hay and their spouses; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 14, 2014, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Pastor Phil Culbertson, with inurnment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday, 2-5 PM at the funeral home.
