Linda V. Bland, age 64, of Newburgh, died Friday morning at her residence after losing her battle with cancer. Born February 24, 1947 in Elkton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Ernest and Bessie I. (Cole) Middleton.
She attended grade school at Tekoppel School and attended Reitz High School for two years. She was a 1966 graduate of Harrison High School. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, including Indian Industries. She retired as a self-employed caregiver for the elderly and as a housekeeper. She was a very giving person throughout all of her life and since she had no children of her own, she adored her many nieces and nephews, watching them grow and change.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her step-father, James E. Arvin, Sr.
She is survived by her loving companion, Larry Hoag, of Newburgh; three brothers, James E. Arvin, Jr. and Gilbert Arvin, both of Evansville and Gary Arvin, of Bloomington; her best friend throughout her life, Marilyn (Erwin) Baggett, of Cadiz, Kentucky and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by Larry’s sons; Mike Hoag, John Hoag, and Hans Hoag.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home, Newburgh Chapel. Burial will follow in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Linda’s memory may be given to one’s favorite charity.
