Roland K. Metz

Roland Kenneth Metz, 96, of Newburgh, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 9, 1914, in Warrick County. He married Josephine Elizabeth Adam from Tell City on October 3, 1936. He worked at Chrysler Corporation for 22 years. Roland opened Metz Auto Repair and ran the business until his retirement in 1987. He served as Secretary of the Evansville Independent Garage Owners Association for 6 years. His hobby was woodworking which he enjoyed for 13 years until losing his sight. Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Elizabeth Adam in March, 2009; and parents, Edward Taylor and Elizabeth Josephine Metz. He is survived by his daughter, Deanna M. Randles of Covington, IN; 2 nieces; and 2 nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. John Hilbert, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City, IN. Friends may visit Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
