Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory
RUSSELL, Robert "Jack," 79, passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Oma Lee; brothers, Houston, Walter and Randolph; sister, Evelyn; grandson, Trey; a special nephew, "Cookey"; and other treasured family and friends. He is survived by his loving bride, Ida Waddell Russell; sons, Russ, J.B. (Jennifer), Bubba (Kym) and Jason (Angela); eight grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth and Peggy (Bob); brother, Jimmy (Pam); and many more loved ones. Jack never met a stranger and loved with all that he had. A man of many trades, he worked as a cabinetmaker and later, retired from Philip Morris. In retirement, he was often found with a tool in his hand or a grandbaby on his lap. Classic cars and trains brought him much joy. A visitation will be open to the public at Nelsen Funeral Home at 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 15, with a service the following day, June 16, at 11 a.m., at the Nelsen Funeral Home chapel. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Evangelistic Ministries, 13315 New Kent Highway, Lanexa, Va. 23089. Condolences may be made online at NelsenRichmond.com.
