From the family: "Our only comfort now is knowing that you are at peace and that you will live on through the memories that we share. A part of us went with you on that heartbreaking day but the sound of your laughter will live in our hearts forever, we love you Daddy. God saw that you were getting tired, He knew what was best for you and welcomed you to His home because He knew that it was your time to rest."

My Uncle Wally took great pride in playing practical jokes on his brother Clyde. Wally expressed to me many times over the last year how much he loved his brother and how much he wanted to be with Clyde again. Well you are with him now Wally and I know you are happy. I LOVE you so much Wally and will miss you so much. Hugs and kisses.

My favorite memory of my Uncle Wally was he drove to Richmond from Virginia Beach to pick me and my best friend up to spend the weekend with him and my Aunt Cathy. Wally drove us to the boardwalk and we walked on the beach for the first time in my life. If was beautiful. Then he drove Vicki and I to this enormous waterpark with water slides and in front of the park was a giant gorilla which was hilarious. Wally paid for us to do the slides and he watched and laughed at the bottom of each slide. We had the best day.

Papaw,
I miss you everyday. But now I know your in a better place. My heart hurts so bad I feel like I’m broken. You was the only papaw I had left once papaw hood went away to be with the lord. 😭😭😭 I remember all the times we had together. The day when I sat wit you while mamaw would clean, the times I’ve cooked for you, the times where we would go do the same little things together to just get out while mamaw was working. The times I’d say “papaw your scaring me” on the way you drive slow. Just something we had together. You would always save a jar of change for me every time I came up for the summer. I was the one who always got the change. I hate knowing you won’t be there when I come up this summer. It’s gonna be so different without you. I just wished I had one more day spent with you. 😭 I’m in tears writing this but papaw I just want you to know from all your grandkids and even Quinton we love you so much. I will never forget you I have our memories to last for a life time. Rest In Peace papaw Wally ❣️ I love you so much 🤞🏼😭😭😭

I LOVE this picture of Wally. It was obviously taken when he was healthier. Even though I've known Wally since 1962 (when I started dating Clyde, Wally's brother), we have gotten much closer since Clyde passed away. Wally was a very kind and loving man who adored his children and grandchildren. If you told him you needed his help with something, he would be there. He enjoyed joking around and making people laugh. I am going to think of Wally in His glory with a rod and reel in his hand fishing with Clyde! How wonderful for them to be together again!
