Sondra Lea Malbone

Sondra Lea Malbone, 86; was called home to Heaven on January 12th, 2022, after a brief illness. Mrs. Malbone was born Sondra Lea Turner on October 8th, 1935; the third of seven children to Edward Heath Turner and Ruby Selma Gwaltney Turner of Norfolk, Virginia. A graduate of Maury High School, Mrs. Malbone retired after spending 52 years employed by Landmark Communications, publisher of The Virginian-Pilot. Mrs. Malbone is predeceased by her husband, Joseph D. Malbone of Virginia Beach. She is survived by two sisters, Jeane Turner Seymour of Tampa, Florida and Carrie Turner Lindsay of Middletown, New York. A loving and devoted mother to her five sons, Mrs. Malbone is predeceased by her eldest son, Edgar Lyle Stevens, Jr., of Virginia Beach and is survived by her sons Timothy Lee Stevens, Christopher Shane Stevens and Brian Joseph Malbone of Virginia Beach, and Michael Edward Malbone of Richmond, Virginia. Mrs. Malbone is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Jessica, Aly, Sandy, Cullen, Alexa, Melanie, Jeremy and Patricia; as well as 16 nieces and nephews that she adored. A funeral service for Sondra will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. Following the funeral service will be a burial at 10:45 AM at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
