Obituary of Ida Dawn (Elam) Cambron
Ida Dawn (Elam) Cambron, age 79, of Monroeville, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Adams Heritage Nursing Home. She was born on January 12, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to Martha and Joseph Elam. Ida's family lived in numerous cities while she was growing up because of her father's job. She was a graduate of Somerset High School in Somerset, KY in 1960. The family finally settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There she met her future husband, Jim Cambron. They were married on February 3, 1968. Ida worked for the Allen County Library and then was a homemaker after her children were born. After they had grown, she worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools as a teacher's aide, loving every minute of it. Ida also belonged to the Twilight Twenty Homemakers Club and made lifelong friends there and enjoyed all the outings they did. After she and Jim retired, they moved to Lake Helen, FL, and spent 10 years there. She loved being in Florida, as she was a part of the Red Hat Society, always attending clubhouse events at the Villas where they lived and loved going shopping with her friends. They also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while they were there. Jim passed away in February 2020. She then moved back to Indiana in June of 2020. Ida is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (John) Cabral; son Andy (Michelle) Cambron; granddaughter, Brittany (Brandon) Nestleroad; grandsons, A.J. Cambron and J.J. Cabral; and one great-granddaughter, Alice; brother, Joseph (Rosie) Elam; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church (11337 US-27, Fort Wayne), with calling one hour prior.
