Dr. Jaswant Singh Gidda

Dr. Jaswant Singh Gidda was born in 1946 in Hoshiarpur, India. After graduating with a Ph. D from Punjab University in Chandigarh he traveled to Dallas, Texas. He completed his Post Doctorate at SMU. His work in Texas included research work in Gastroenterology and Pharmacology in Dallas and San Antonio. This work granted him the experience of working for Harvard University, in teaching and research. He then shifted his career which let him to Bristol Meyers, and eventually to Eli Lilly, where he retired after almost 20 years of service. His work included 14 U.S. Patents, and two innovative drugs in Gastroenterology, which are currently on the market. Toward the end of his career, he became a founding member of multiple Biotech companies. His contributions to the Biotech industry will positively affect the lives of many, for years to come. His most rewarding life work was his marriage to Raj Gidda and raising his two children Vipul (Amisha) and Archana (Tim). He was honored to have the title of “Papa” to his six grandchildren, and showered them with love daily. Jaswant was a Mentor, a Philanthropist, and an avid golfer. He will be greatly missed by many. Jaswant is survived by his wife, Raj Gidda; his sisters, Baldev Kaur and Surinder Kaur; his son, Vipul Gidda (Amisha Gidda); his daughter, Archana Bailey (Tim Bailey); 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; many cousins and friends. Prayer services will be held at Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis, 10950 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46239 at 4:00pm on Sunday, September 12th, 2021. Jaswant’s memorial service will be held at The Willows Event Center, 6729 Westfield Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46220 on Monday September 13th from 4:30pm. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals who provided care to Jaswant throughout the years.
