Obituary of Stanley Joseph Knapp
Stanley Joseph Knapp, 76, of Boonville, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, in his home. He was born August 17, 1936, in Evansville, IN. He owned and operated Knapp’s Service Center in Newburgh for 42 years. He was a member of St. Rupert’s Catholic Church in Red Brush where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Stan was also a member of the Hadi Shrine. The highlight of his retirement was helping organize and hold the Special Needs Fishing Tournament every spring for the last 12 years in Warrick County. He was a lifelong outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Stan was preceded in death by his son, Chris Knapp; granddaughter, Kaylin Mischler; sister, Doris Graham; and brother, Jack Whitehouse. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia; sons, Jeff Knapp (Laurel), and Kevin Knapp (Tara), both of Boonville; daughters, Becky Mischler (Joe) of Bear, Delaware, and Shelley Feagley of Evansville; grandchildren, Colton, Kris, Dustin (Joanna) and Hunter Knapp, Brian (Ashley) and Lauren Mischler, Chelsie Feagley, and Jessica Walden (Andrew); his first great grandchild, expected in November; several nieces and nephews; brothers, William Knapp (Mary) and Bob Whitehouse, both of Evansville; and sister, Jane Thompson of Vincennes. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at St. Rupert’s Catholic Church, 1244 Red Brush Road, Newburgh, IN, officiated by Father Lowell Will, with burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, 2-8 PM at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN, and 10:00 AM until service time at the church. The family asks, at Stan’s request, that in lieu of flowers, friends perform an act of kindness to a special needs or needy child, or make a donation to Shriners’ Hospitals for Children, P.O.
