Jesse "Ran" Randolph Thomas

Jesse Randolph “Ran” Thomas, 90, passed away on November 15, 2020. Ran, a 50+ year resident of Fredericksburg, VA, was born in Brunswick County, VA to Otis and Ruth Thomas and raised by Wilbur and Bessie Thomas. He was number twelve of 19 brothers and sisters and grew up working on the family’s tobacco farm. He was preceded in death by Lois Ray Thomas, his loving wife of 66 years; seven brothers; Wilbur, Buck, Red, Dick, Billy, Donald and Gene; and seven sisters, Mary, Velma, Nellie, Ruth, Ella, Lorene and Ann. Ran retired after 37 years of service from Virginia Electric Power Company (VEPCO) and then worked another decade at Augustine Golf Club in Stafford. Ran never met a stranger, he was fun-loving and enjoyed life. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved hunting and golfing, had a private pilot’s license and loved spending winters in Myrtle Beach and summers at the lake. He was a devoted husband, provider, dad and grandfather. Ran spent the last 5 years as a resident of Hughes Home in Fredericksburg, VA where Ray was his roommate for a year until she passed in 2019. The family would like to thank the staff of Hughes Home for the loving care and kindness extended to Ran during the final years of his life. Ran is survived by his son, Randy Thomas, Jr. and wife Jaime, his daughter, Rene’ Thomas-Rizzo and husband Dan; four grandchildren, Paige Aaron Thomas, Rylie Kai Rizzo, Ryan Daniel Rizzo, and Randy Thomas III; brother Marvin; and sisters, Lois, Betty and Mattie. The family will receive friends on Saturday November 21, 2020 from 10-11am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. The services will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Jefferson Davis Hwy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hughes Home.
