About

Located in the quiet suburb of Skokie, Illinois, Memorial Park Cemetery has provided burial services for Chicago-area families since 1913. The cemetery is distinguished for its natural beauty, with shade-providing trees, gorgeous gardens (one designed by a famous Chicago landscape architect) and peaceful lagoons, which are home to swans and ducks. Furthermore, few cemeteries have a mausoleum as magnificent as Memorial Park’s. The art deco building is an architectural wonder. Dignified, elegant and peaceful, Memorial Park Cemetery is an ideal final resting spot for loved ones.

A welcoming cemetery

Cemetery Grounds at Memorial Park CemeteryAs a non-denominational cemetery, we serve families of all religions, cultures and backgrounds. Our team is well-versed in the burial customs and traditions practiced by Chicago-area families. Within the grounds, we have a garden for those of Jewish faith as well as a section dedicated to Greek Orthodox families.

Burial options for every family

Chestnut Estates Private & Community Columbarium at Memorial Park CemeteryEveryone deserves a dignified and personalized final resting spot. At Memorial Park Cemetery, we offer a wide range of burial, entombment and cremation memorialization choices to suit your needs. Cemetery properties include traditional ground spaces with flat markers or upright monuments, mausoleum crypts, cremation niches, columbaria, memorial benches and more.

The newest gardens include Mount Moriah Hedge Estates, near the entrance at Gross Point Road, and L’Vor Vador, which are both dedicated to people of the Jewish faith; and Chestnut Bench Estates, with space for cremation and traditional ground burials.

You can also go with something more private, like a custom mausoleum or estate. The newest premier development is Westfield Estates, a section near the Skokie Boulevard entrance dedicated to build-to-suit properties. It includes a waterfall feature. Other build-to-suit areas are Gates of Heaven Family Estates, Ner Tamid Family Estates, Swan Shore Private Family Estates, Chestnut Family Estates and Chapel Fountain Family Estates. Chapel Fountain, located in the center of the cemetery, was designed by notable Chicago landscape architect Scott Byron.

For cremation memorialization, we have an artistic cremation garden that encourages reflection and remembrance. The circular garden has an American flag at the center and memorial benches surround it. Like spokes on a wheel, brick walkways lead from the center of the garden to columbaria and other memorials on the perimeter.

No matter what type of memorialization you and your family choose, we promise to be there for you, whether you’re making arrangements in advance or at a time of need.

Committed to you

At Memorial Park Cemetery, we are committed to serving you with respect, dignity and integrity. As a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, we offer compassionate care and personalized service you trust.

Please visit us at our main offices located off of Gross Point Road for a guided tour of our cemetery property. We are here to serve you.

Memorial Park Mausoleum

Mausoleum at Memorial Park CemeteryDowntown Chicago might be known for its astounding architecture, but in nearby Skokie, the Memorial Park Mausoleum is just as impressive as any of those Chicago buildings. Built in the 1920s, the art deco building is characterized by modern geometric shapes and linear patterns.

The interior of the mausoleum features beautiful stained-glass windows complemented by marble corridors. The mausoleum has two chapels: the Main Chapel and the Chapel of Peace. Both of which are beautiful spaces for a committal service. The Main Chapel has hand-painted ceilings, a towering pipe organ and an abundance of natural light. With marble walls and a stained-glass mural depicting Jesus with a flock of lambs, the Chapel of Peace is more intimate. If you wish to have a committal service in either chapel, we are happy to work with the funeral home of your choice.

Entombment options available in the mausoleum include marble crypts and marble cremation niches, as well as glass-front niches that can be personalized with photos, flowers and mementos.

On-site greenhouse

Visitors often wonder how we keep an abundance of fresh flowers and plants. Unlike many cemeteries, Memorial Park Cemetery has an on-site greenhouse. The flowers and plants we grow can be used to add beauty to any family estate, and bouquets of our freshly grown flowers are available for purchase for use throughout the cemetery.
