Personalized funeral services
We start by listening to you. Tell us about a distinctive personality trait—a lifelong hobby, passion for a vocation or a favorite genre of music—and we will work to incorporate memorable aspects of a personality into a service to be treasured by all who attend. Imagine a red-carpet premiere held in honor of your family’s biggest cinema buff, with a video tribute and buttered popcorn. Envision a gallery of greenery grown by the neighborhood’s favorite gardener, with imprinted packets of seeds for guests to take home and plant in remembrance. Your imagination inspires us—and we always do our professional best to fulfill almost any final wish.
Whether you choose a traditional religious service, military funeral honors or a contemporary celebration of life, trust us to present your options without pressure. Our flexible reception space adapts to guest lists large and small. Our interfaith chapel warmly welcomes celebrants of all faith traditions. We also offer cremation services and maintain close relationships with local cemeteries.
We Honor Veterans
At Muehlig Funeral Chapel, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we are honored to serve our nation’s heroes and take this responsibility seriously. We have taken steps to ensure our staff is knowledgeable of all the benefits available to military veterans and their families.
In addition, we host community events annually in honor of our veterans and work closely with local veterans organizations. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran’s memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.
Convenient Ann Arbor location
Our location in Ann Arbor provides convenient access to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, just minutes away from our neighboring communities of Ypsilanti and Dexter. We have called Ann Arbor home since 1840, when we opened as one of Michigan’s first funeral homes. Today, we strive to contribute to our community by serving families with the highest standard of care.
Please contact us, day or night, if we may assist with immediate funeral arrangements in Ann Arbor. We welcome you and your family to take a guided tour of our chapel and look forward to answering any questions you may have.
Florian C. Muehlig, a German cabinetmaker, founded Muehlig Funeral Chapel to create a funeral home in Ann Arbor. Born in 1810 in Rossbach, Bavaria, Muehlig came to Ann Arbor in 1840. Muehlig Funeral Chapel enjoys the distinct honor of being one of the oldest funeral homes in the state of Michigan, steeped in a tradition of community service and compassionate care.
We continue this tradition today as part of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. We’re committed to exceeding expectations and delivering a standard of service that is 100-percent guaranteed.
