Geoffrey Dacosta Smith is a Native of Barbados, West Indies. He migrated to Canada at an early age, where initially he worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years. He graduated with a degree in mortuary science in 1996 and received his funeral director license from the United States National Board. Upon returning to Toronto, Geoffrey applied for an apprenticeship program through the Board of Funeral Services at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home and Cremation Centre. In 1997 he became a licensed funeral director in Ontario and was soon promoted to location manager at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, where he served for 20 years.
