Personalized funerals

Our mission is to help families create personalized funerals and memorials. This approach keeps us open to traditional religious rites as well as contemporary gatherings that deeply reflect a person's life. That means that whether you want a basic cremation with ashes scattered in a personally meaningful place, a funeral in our chapel with cemetery burial nearby, or a modern celebration of life with live music, favorite foods and a send-off that expresses the passions of yourself or your loved one, we are happy to deliver.

Want an afternoon ice cream social? Or maybe an evening wine and cheese gathering is a better fit. Were you thinking about a Texas-themed funeral complete with a BBQ, a band and attendees all in boots? If you can imagine it, we can make it happen.

Cremation services

Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, the funeral home team can explain the process and different options. From a direct cremation without a memorial service or a witness cremation to a full funeral service before or after the cremation and more, we help you understand this increasingly common choice—and handle all of the cremation arrangements.

Meeting your needs

All of our services are designed to help our families through one of the most personal and challenging stages of life. We understand losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience, and we are committed to helping our families with professional and personal service.

At Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, you not only receive the compassionate care you expect from a locally operated establishment, but also the value you deserve from the largest network of funeral, cremation and cemetery services in North America. Please contact us if you need immediate assistance, would like to tour our Burnet location or if you would like more information.

Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home was established in the 1930s, when Waddell Northington purchased an undertaking company from Lampasas Furniture Company. The business was located on the east side of the square in Burnet. The funeral home later moved to 306 East Polk St., where it is located today.

Soon after the move, Waddell hired Gene Clements to assist him in the business. During this time, ambulance service was added. In addition to using the hearse to deliver the deceased to the cemetery or train station, it was also used to transport the sick and injured to the local hospital or clinic.

In 1949, Gene purchased the business from Waddell and added a 250-seat chapel. He successfully continued the ambulance service and the funeral business until he retired 20 years later.

A tradition continues

In 1969, Bill and Janice Wilcox bought the funeral home and changed the name to Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. To better serve the needs of people in the southern part of the county, Bill and Janice opened a funeral home in Marble Falls in 1975.

In about 1980, the ambulance service was taken over by the City of Burnet. Today, almost 90 years after its founding, the caring and dedicated team at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home continues to take care of friends and neighbors when they most need it.
