James Craciun, known by most as Jim, has been a licensed funeral director since 1976, graduating cum laude from St. Edward High School in 1969 and Cleveland State University in 1973. A real family man, he has enjoyed serving in funeral homes with his brother, late wife, son and niece. He is blessed to help families through perhaps the most difficult time in their life and is proud to be a part of the Dignity Memorial® team.
In 1984 Jim founded The World Union of Free Romanians (WUFR) in Geneva, Switzerland, an organization fighting against communism for democratic change. As vice president of the WUFR, he advised the Clinton Administration in 1996 on the enlargement of NATO.
Jim is a past Jaycee president, past Kiwanis president, 1989-1991 President of Cleveland Diocesan Union of the Holy Name Society and 2002-2009 Chairman of the Board of International Services Center (a United Way agency that resettles refugees). He currently serves on the E.N.T. Council of University Hospital and as Vice President of the Cleveland Police Foundation after serving as incorporating secretary in 2011. Jim was honored to receive the Freedom Award in 2007 from the American Nationalities Movement and inducted into Cleveland's International Hall of Fame, class of 2017.
Jim takes most pride in his 5 children and 5 grandchildren. He lost his beautiful wife in 2010 after 30 wonderful years of marriage.
