Steven has worked in the funeral industry since 1985. In 1996, he attended Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service to become a funeral director. He's been the manager at Metcalf Funeral Directors funeral home since 2009. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Conroe, where he has served on the board since 2004
John P Powell Jr.
John has worked many years in the funeral business, in Houston, Katy, Rosenberg and Conroe. Originally from Montgomery, John spent 3 years in the United States Navy, serving aboard the "USS Kitty Hawk" CV-63 aircraft carrier. Today he is an executive officer in the Conroe American Legion Post 411 and is actively involved in veterans affairs in Montgomery County. John's hobbies include fishing, woodworking and spending time with family.
Leo T Metcalf III
Former Mayor Leo "Tommy" Metcalf has a long history of service to the Conroe community and the funeral industry. After graduating from Conroe High School and Sam Houston State University, Tommy began working at Metcalf Funeral Home in 1967. He became president of the funeral home in 1973.
Tommy is a former commissioner for the Texas Funeral Service Commission, past president of the Texas Funeral Directors Association and former member of the board of directors of the National Funeral Directors Association and the International Cemetery Association. Tommy served Conroe as president of the Conroe Rotary Club, president of the Embassy Club of the Greater Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce, president and drive chairman for the Montgomery County United Way and president of the Montgomery County Hospital District. He was a founding member and first board chairman of Montgomery County Crimestoppers, founding board member of Friends of Conroe, vice-president of Montgomery County Fair Association and a board member of the Conroe Chapter of the American Red Cross, among many, many other past involvements.
He currently sits on the board of trustees for The Sam Houston University Foundation, is a member of the president’s council for Sam Houston State University and on the executive committee of the board of directors for Spirit of Texas Bank.
Tommy and his wife have been married nearly 50 years. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren and are members of First Baptist Church in Conroe.
