Guidance and support at every step
Our experienced funeral directors will walk you through each aspect of funeral planning. Regardless of the type of service you prefer, we'll discuss your options, benefits, costs and special details, so you're comfortable with each decision.
Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service hosts traditional ceremonies, modern cremations and lively celebrations of life that friends and family will remember for generations. Our funeral home in Fredericksburg houses both small and large rooms where guests receive comfort and support. We aim to provide everything families need, so they can focus on each other and healing.
Design an extra-special tribute
At Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, our families have the unique opportunity to create a funeral or memorial service that truly celebrates life. As we discuss your options, share with us the details that made your loved one special. Did they enjoy fashion or music? What about the great outdoors or serve in the military? Tell us what they enjoyed most, and we'll design a service showcasing their journey.
In addition to assisting at the time of need, Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service also helps families manage costs by planning funeral arrangements in advance. By planning ahead, you can alleviate the stress of funeral planning for your loved ones while ensuring your needs and budget are met.
Care you can trust, day or night
We are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. As a locally operated funeral home that belongs to a national network, we can provide the care and respect as well as the value and benefits you deserve.

Our current building opened in the 1970s, under the name Elkins Funeral Home. The Elkins moved into the location from their Main Street location, where they were located since 1927.
Wheeler and Thompson Funeral Home once stood downtown on Princess Anne Street, where the Fredericksburg Circuit Court sits today. In the 1980s, Wheeler and Thompson merged with Mullins Funeral Home, which at the time was in the old Elkins building, to form what we know today as Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service.
Today, we have funeral home locations in cities throughout Virginia and carry on a tradition of compassionate care.
